Description: This course is designed for students of Economics studying for both a BA degree and an MA degree. A prerequisite for this course is a required minimum knowledge of intermediate to upper-intermediate level so that students are able to read economic articles from the internet or professional journals. The objective of this course is to expand their vocabulary in terms of business and economic collocations, to improve their communication skills and to achieve accuracy in grammatical structures. Moreover, the course aims at bridging the gap between secondary school English and specific English. The students will need the specific language when attending the lectures in English at this faculty, furthermore, while reading professional journals and books that have not been translated into Czech and last but not least in discussions and discourses when expressing their opinions on particular economic topics. Students gradually learn the language of discussions and negotiations .
