Description: The project has an ambition to establish a school of doctoral studies in economics and political science oriented towards the application of economic methodology (such as game theory, the public choice theory, institutional and constitutional economy, mathematical modelling and econometrics etc.) to analyses of political process and political markets. Contemporary political economy underlines interfaces between "homo oeconomicus" and "homo politicus" in the study of collective and individual rationality of political behaviour in committee systems and boards. Interdisciplinary character of such studies has brought new interesting results and understanding of parallels and differences between allocative mechanisms based on "private choice" and "public choice". This direction of economic analysis is not yet well developed in Czech economic thinking and joint collective effort of young promising researches can lead to significant contribution in this field. At the same time, the project intends to significantly upgrade academic standards of PhD research and study to create environment sufficient to compete with top European PhD schools. The basic instruments to achieve these goals will be as follows: collective research of PhD students and supervisors, regular research seminars meetings discussing collectivelly particular research topics, inspirative seminars oriented on frontline achievements of world science in the field, regular international PhD workshops confronting research topics and achievements of students from different universities, summer schools, international mobilities, and a series of research publications.
