Description: | Transformation of a soviet-type centrally planned economy into a market one is undoubtedly a unique process without any precedents. It opens an interesting field for economic research, because it is one of the rare moments when economists can find something like a "social experiment." While reform targets are transparent enough, effects of many concrete steps are quite unpredictable. That is why various types of economic policy measures have to be described, and their results as well. The task of economic theory is to draw relevant conclusions at the end of the whole process. The research in the field of economic transformation includes many works. But now when the whole process of privatisation in the Czech Republic is practically finished it is tempting to complete the privatisation story by a research project, results of which could be used as a comprehensive survey for new generations of scientists. Such a research should not aspirate to great evaluations, it cannot avoid them totally, however. The data summarisation and description of the privatisation processes as such has to be considered main target of it. |
