Abstract: Voucher privatization and some of its consequences
The thesis deals with the process of dividing state-owned assets among the people in Czechoslovakia, or Czech Republic, after 1989. The state-owned assets were divided between October 1, 1991, and December 3, 1994, using the method of voucher privatization.
The theory-backed introduction explains the principle of this method of
privatization and the reasons why this particular method was chosen. In
the second chapter you will find a thorough factographic description of both stages of the privatization. Some of the consequences of the
privatization are discussed in Chapter 3. The role of privatization investment funds is described in details, and the development of the local capital market is followed, as well as the process of forming new type of ownership due to the voucher privatization. The ethics of the voucher privatization are discussed in a separate chapter focused on massive advertising campaigns accompanying the privatization. Some examples of these campaigns can be found in the appendix of the thesis.
