Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with issues of corporate governance and ownership concentration in the Czech Republic. First, the developments of the 1990s are reviewed and the role of privatization and institutional framework in these developments is scrutinized. Then, the current situation in the Czech corporate sector (among companies listed on the Prague Stock Exchange in particular) is examined. Hungary is used as a comparison to the Czech Republic.
