Abstract: The main task of this bachelor thesis is to bring an overview of the situation of people with disabilities on the labour market in the Czech Republic. It also tries to evaluate and discuss the cost-efficiency of employment of people with disabilities. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part contains an overview of basic definitions of disabilities in social and anti-discrimination policies with definitions used by World Health Organization, which became the basis for many legislative acts in most of the countries. Instead of this it also brings some statistical data about people with disabilities and their socio-demographic characteristics in the European Union and the Czech republic.
The second part begins with many various programs arranged to encourage the employability of the people with disabilities. The main strategies could be divided to the legislative approach, stimulating approach and programs for encouraging employability (both active and passive). The application of these programs in the European Union accompanied by the description of the situation of people with disabilities in the labour market follows the general part. Despite this the chapter also includes a summary of legislative acts and general national strategies in the Czech Republic.
The third chapter is devoted to the national active programs to encourage employability in the Czech Republic (issued mainly to programs for people with disabilities). The main accent is targeted on the sheltered work and the supported employment.
The main aim of the last part is to provide an answer to the question, if the employment of the people with disabilities due to the program of supported employment could be cost effective. The conclusion of this important problem is based on the microeconomic analysis, which was done for alternatives, which differ either in time perspective or in the included benefits.
