|Abstract:||In this paper I have summarized the behavioural evolution of the Czech economic subjects in the field of the environmental investments in the period before the EU accession. I have put stress on the investments, which have been realized with the assistance of the EU pre-accession instruments ISPA and Phare and with the support of the State Environmental fund of the Czech Republic.
Whereas the first positive ecological changes after 1989 were connected with the overall economics restructuring and a big progress was made mainly in the field of the air pollution, the later investments were influenced by the effort to implement all the necessary legislation and to fulfil requirements of the European Union. The majority of resources in this period were oriented to the clean water management. This trend was caused partly by the EU administrative procedures and legislative requirements and partly by the Czech subjects unable to present more quality projects with different orientation.
