Abstract: This work deals with the Housing Policy in the Czech Republic. The second chapter describes the evolution of the Czech housing policy from the second half of nineteen century till now. It describes also contemporary situation of the housing fund and situation in each sector of housing according to the type of ownership.

The third chapter deals with the actual problems in each sector of housing. It describes the neglected housing fund and problems with the new development. The most of this chapter deals with the social problems in the housing sector. I describes also another few problems at the end of this chapter, including the deregulation of housing rent, the most discussed problem from the past days.


The Fourth chapter is about instruments on the housing market to deal with the today problems. There is a common characteristic of housing policy instruments at the beginning, including institutions which are using them. Three groups of instruments are listed then – instruments for the contemporary housing fund, instruments for the rental housing and for the ownership housing. There are listed another few possible instruments at the end of this chapter, for example the tax relieves.

The last chapter deals with today housing policy in the Czech Republic. The first you can find here the part about fulfilling the objectives from the previous concept of housing policy from 1997 and the last characteristic of actual concept of housing policy separated in two parts – the middle-termed concept till the year 2010 and short-termed concept for the next two years.
