This thesis deals with the issues of the human capital progress as it is linked to a college education. Its outcomes are based on the theories of Gary S. Becker. Chapter 3 analyses Czech educational system. This framework leads to the analysis of the college and high school education's costs and returns in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 offers a tentative answer to the question of the college education's financial efficacy, while underscoring the value of non-financial returns. However, it's difficult to quantify them. The thesis attempts to contribute to the current discussion concerning the potential of a college education, as a tool of effective human capital progress.
