06/12/2019 - Call for applications: UNCE Doctoral Fellowships
Institute of Economic Studies calls for applications for 2-4 UNCE Doctoral Fellowships. The length of the fellowship is 12 months, with a very likely extension for up to 18 months. The fellowship will support research on topics with potential for high-quality publication in the fields of economics and finance. Only PhD candidates currently enrolled at the Institute are eligible for a fellowship.
An application must include:
- A brief project proposal with clearly specified outcomes, either a paper (or papers) ready for submission, or work-in-progress suitable for presentation at important conferences and workshops
- CV
- List of publications
- List of work-in-progress publications (for each paper, include information about past and upcoming presentations at the conferences and seminars, a rough date of expected submission, and your submission tree)
- Date of planned state doctoral examination and dissertation defense
- Whether a long-term visit abroad is planned during the fellowship
The Committee will assess the potential of the proposal and the feasibility of the objectives set. The main formal requirement: To be currently enrolled in the PhD at the IES FSV UK.

17/01/2013 - IES Alumni Earnings Survey 2012
In June 2012 the IES FSV UK organized a second questionnaire survey among its graduates, three years after the first survey. More than one hundred and twenty graduates provided information about their current earnings and their earnings after graduation, mostly with Master or PhD degree. Their monthly median income in 2011 is CZK 65 000, and this income is about twice so high as income of other university graduates in the Czech Republic. 01/10/2008 - Gretl: New econometric software in computer lab
A new, open-source software for econometrics has been installed and is available for students in room 016. The program has new and intuitive graphical interface that allows working with nice dialogs, but contains command line for advanced users as well. Gretl is able to run methods like OLS, IV and 2SLS, SUR, quantile regressions, contains modules for time series analysis, seasonal adjusmtent and filetring and panel data as well. It can work with various data files and it directly exports to R and JMulti. The webpage contains an extensive documentation and a free econometric textbook with explanation of methods.
