Description: |
The new phenomenon of electricity auctions is spreading in the Czech Republic among municipalities as well as firms and grouping households despite the fact it is neither institutionalized nor regulated. Electricity is a key input and customers/participants are facing serious information disadvantage, the only criteria is the wholes price which accounts for only about 40% of the price. The Energy Regulatory Office has brought up the issue of regulation of these auctions to which we would like to contribute with an analysis of the current non-transparent situation. Comparing the international experience with electricity auctions we would like to suggest suitable regulatory measures and spread the awareness that electricity auctions are not always money saving. |
