Abstract: |
This study follows the research completed in 1992 which is a comparative analysis of the Czechoslovak, Polish and Portuguese textile and clothing industries. The year 1990 was chosen as the base year for comparison. Unfortunately only incomplete data was available for 1991 which was the culmination of intensive restructuring in Czechoslovakia. Thus only superficial judgments could be made about the real impacts of transformation on trade competitiveness and free market developments in both of these "sensitive" industries. During the period 1991-1993, some dramatic changes occurred in this important segment of the Czech economy that influenced the data consistency and the robustness of results. |
