This paper describes Macedonian economic development since the beginning of the existence of the republic in the Yugoslavian federation with emphasis on the period after gaining independence in 1991. Detailed analysis is dedicated to the period of last fifteen years, from the view of the main macroeconomic indicators – gross domestic product, inflation, unemployment and foreign trade. The bachelor’s work provides also some other information about this country in the centre of the Balkan peninsula among others additional information to the economical analysis, for example privatization, or historical and political facts. In four chapters we can see the story of a small country, which from the status of the “poor relative” was able to reach the post of candidate for European Union membership. |
