Abstract: Bachelor thesis deals with the theory of collective provision of goods, especially club goods. In the first part I focus on describing possible types of behavior in processes of providing and utilization of goods in general, with a focus on describing altruism.
In the second part I show the differences between public and private goods, according to Paul A. Samuelson (1954).
In the third part of my work I focus on characteristics of club goods, differences from public goods and basic models of club theory according to James M. Buchanan (1965) and Yew-Kwang Ng (1973).
Fourth part deals with problems related to collective decision making about provision of goods. It is especially “the prisoner dilemma” and “the free rider problem”. The main factors, which influence how much and if such problems emerge are the size of the group and social relations between all members of the group. Even though the experiment described in my thesis did not fully confirm my conjecture, if solidarity between members of group, possibly solidarity with the club exists, then the “free rider problem” disappears.
In the last part I show practical examples of club goods, problems “tragedy of commons” and “tragedy of anticommons” and I am looking for the solution of these problems.
