| Abstrakt: | In this thesis we used the meta-regression analysis to estimate the damages caused by a currently emitted ton of carbon. This eect is also called the social cost of carbon. The uniqueness of this work is that it is the rst meta-analysis on this matter which takes publication bias into account. By using proven methods, we identi ed strong publication bias in estimating the social cost of carbon. The value of the social cost of carbon beyond publication bias is according to our results 0.706 USD/tC. Our estimate is signi cantly lower than estimates which do not take publication bias into account. This means that, in this instance, publication bias very signi cantly contributes to the overestimation of this eect. This overestimation consequently biases the perception of the true impact of an emitted ton of carbon. This results in an ineective global climate policy. |
