| Abstract: | The content of this survey is oriented at the M&A process in the banking industry. Beside general and theoretical overview of sources and reasons, which cause this merger wave in the world, I try to analyze basic motives, which may to lead to concrete decision of the bank to find a partner. Within this framework I discuss the suitable conditions, time behavior, and possible problems of M&A activities in general. Special attention is concerned at opportunities to rationalization and raise of effectiveness during the integration of merging banks. The core of the survey is description all of these circumstances at concrete process of integration ČSOB and IPB into one institution. During this process, as one of the main sources of increase of efectivness, were integrated the retail networks. By analyzing the datas about ČSOB and IPB retail networks I try to answer the question, which circumstances may play the role in elimination of geografic overlap of these two networks. |
