Abstract: | This paper deals with the evolution of bank deposit services (products) after 1990 in the Czech Republic. More concrete, it focuses on deposit services for population (individuals) and describes its changes in context of transition of the czech banking system. During 1990s, the large banks became "financial superstores" and thus dominated over the retail banking area. The smaller banks provided only some kinds of ("tailored") services for the richest clients. They widened their services when electronic banking was introduced, and since then they have successfully supplied other deposit products as well. The supply of deposit product was significantly influenced by the attendence of foreign banks, because those banks have brouhgt some new trends to the czech banking deposit services market (e.g. client approach, cross-selling, alternative possibilities of saving) and enhanced competitive environment. Nowadays, the supply of bank deposit services attains the level of developed economies. In last 14 years it has undergone a development which lasted much more longer in other countries |
