The paper deals with Sweden’s welfare state and its labour market. It takes into consideration historical development and structural changes. In the first part, author investigates impact of the social system on the economic performance. The second part ruminates critically the characteristics of Swedish labour market such as collective bargaining, specific distribution of income, active labour market policy and the power of the public sector. The author’s aim is to find pros and cons of the system and conclude some general lessons. |
