| Abstract: | It has been already 13 years since the fall of the Berlin wall. The reunion of the Germany republics was not just a little episode, but it brought a deep change in the history and economic development of both countries. As a mean for the transition from the centrally planned economy to the free market, a shock transformation strategy was chosen. It was based on privatisation -- a change in property laws. A special institution called Treuhandanstalt was grounded. I will try to evaluate the used privatization strategy from the point of view of Treuhandanstalt and new owners of the privatized companies. |
