| Abstract: | The following thesis concerns analysis of positive and negative effects of selected economy policies implemented by both, the European Commission and national governments of the member countries of the European Union. All the policies executed within the EU will directly influence the development of the Czech economy after joining the above mentioned integrative group. Criteria used for selection of the examined policies and their concrete instruments were the extent of their influence on the internal market of the member countries of the European Union and followingly the degree of interventionism necessary for their implementation. Due to this reason most attention was paid to the Common Agricultural Policy, where both the above stated criteria are of a massive extent. Other policies included in this study are Common Trade Policy, Competition Policy and Industrial Policy. Each policy is more or less described in detail in the Czech economy literature, however it mostly concerns descriptions of institutions and their aims or principles, but the mechanisms of the given policy stays without an explanation. Due to this reason an alternative approach by means of microeconomic graphical-analytical system was chosen. This system enables wider theoretical interpretations of economic content of individual policies, effects of their specific instruments and possibilities of evaluation of their positive or negative effects. This thesis is aimed at the verification of two basic hypotheses. First, the existence and implementation of individual policies executed by the European Commission are valid and also justified mainly due to political, and in some cases social, reasons. Second, theroretically-economic analysis of the effects of the majority of the intervention policies instruments proves their ineffectivity, that leads to the creation of many other imperfections on imperfectly competitive markets. The first chapter is presented as a theoretical entry into the process of integration (on a general as well as a concrete level) during the development in Western Europe. The second chapter includes classification of individual policies implemented in the European Union. The third chapter, named Common Agricultural Policy, defines particularities of the agriculture production market and includes a detailed theoretically-economic analysis of the effects of individual instruments of Common Agricultural Policy. At the end of the chapter possible trends of future development of Common Agricultural Policy are described. In the fourth chapter attention was paid to the Common Trade Policy with an emphasis given to the effects that result from customs union and new theoretical approaches of the Strategic trade policy. The fifth chapter, called Competition Policy, analyzes, except the theoretically-economic results of this policy, also possible competition hindering barriers in relation to their institutional treatment. The sixth chapter concerns the Industrial Policy, mainly in the sense of discussion concerning justification of the arguments needed for implementation of the policy. |
