Abstract: The main objective of this thesis is to examine foreign direct investment (FDI) in Czech republic in comparison with other transition economies from the point of view of its determinants. The exact definition of FDI, its classification and its positive and negative features are presented in the first part. Moreover, this thesis deals with history of PZI not only in Czech Republic, but also in other transition countries and also in worldwide context. Second part is occupied by economic and theoretic background, which is very important for correct identification of the determinants of FDI. Furthermore, there is presented an econometric analysis, which tries using the robust method to verify hypothesis regarding the main localization factors in Central and Eastern European and Baltic countries and in some Commonwealth of Independent states.
