Modernization and sustained technological progress requires growing knowledge and skill levels for human capital increase. This thesis deals with the issues of the human capital progress as it is linked to a college education. Its outcomes are based on the theories of Gary S. Becker. Chapter 3 analyses Czech educational system. This framework leads to the analysis of the college and high school education's costs and returns in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 offers a tentative answer to the question of the college education's financial efficacy, while underscoring the value of non-financial returns. However, it's difficult to quantify them. The thesis attempts to contribute to the current discussion concerning the potential of a college education, as a tool of effective human capital progress. |
