Abstract: Franchising has become very popular worldwide; Czech Republic has not followed this trend, though. First section of this work identifies major advantages and disadvantages of this entrepreneurial form and attempts to model behavior of an opportunistic franchisee using game theory. Second section describes legislative framework and development of franchising in U.S.A., Europe and in the Czech Republic while trying to find causes of such an underdevelopment in this country. The last section gives detailed description of two originally Czech concepts, comparing them to the sophisticated concept of Mc Donald's.
